I love the bike tattoo design, would you be offended if someone used it for themself?

I’m a little conflicted. Flattered, but at the same time, I like that my tattoo is unique, y’know?

That’s honestly one of my favorite things about tattoos, that its a form of self expression that requires a lot of dedication and thought. There’s a lot of subtle meaning behind the tattoo, that means something to me personally.

Obviously, like all art, it has meanings that resonate in different ways to all of the people who see it. But if you’re going to get a tattoo, make sure its for you.

Yeah, it can be dedicated to people, or pets, or whatever, but in the end you’ll be living with it, and it should be something you love, think is perfect, and means something to you.

So I put this to you, anon. Don’t get it just yet. Find a way to make it personal to you. Change it, something about it, rearrange it, cut out bits and pieces, whatever. If you want to add things, take things away, or whatever, go for it. Maybe you’re one of those people who don’t art good, and that’s fine, I can work with you on it, if you come off anon or give me contact info, we can talk it out, and you can give me your story and I’ll do my best to make it into something you love.

Or if you love it already, its perfect as is, no changes to be made, that’s fine too.

But still hold off on getting it. Let it sit for a while. Print it out and hang it by your bed. Think about where you’d want it, how big you’d want it, how it’d sit on your body. Hell, do what I did, and get someone who’s not too shabby at drawing to draw it on you in sharpie. It looked totally different, in an awesome way, but it gives you a whole new perspective to have it on you. Like, things to consider: will it look extremely large or small in comparison to your body? the circles won’t always be circular, because you’ll be moving and shit, so in what position would you like your arm or leg or whatever to be in when it’ll look perfect? the font is currently lettering from my drafting, do you want that, cursive, bank gothic, or what? Live with it, before you have to live with it forever.

Then in month or so, go back to it. Look at it again, and if you know its exactly what you want, there is no way it could be better, and you want it with you for the rest of your life, get it inked.

And be sure to take a picture and link it to me, I want to see what your mind has made.

Last Friday, April 6th, Nachu Bhatnagar, a witty, good guy from my school’s senior class passed away from cancer. This video made me think of him, more particularly a specific occurrence from when he was recovering from his first onset.
I’m not sure where it started, but a Repost status was going around Facebook, “Repost if you wish cancer didn’t exist.”
A lot of people were spreading it around with him in mind, to show support for him.

While he appreciated the sentiment, he disapproved of the message. He felt there was no point to complaining about something that couldn’t be changed, and asked that “REPOST: If you plan on making life about fun and happiness rather than bitch about some bullshit problem.”

This video made me think of that.

It’s finally done!

A while ago I decided to design an original tattoo for myself. I liked the idea of getting an anchor, but decided to add my own personal twist. I am both a sailor and a biker, so I took images of various bike parts, cut them up, and rearranged them into the shape of an anchor. The design, however, seemed too minimalist, and so I made it into a technical drawing of sorts with labels for the pieces. After hand drawing the design, I scanned the image, and then cleaned up the design with illustrator. This is the finished product.

Surrealism revisited, with photoshop fun.

I took some older black and white pictures I shot for a surrealism project a few years ago, and overlayed them with some miscellaneous color sky shots, with some interesting results.

More mini-illustrations. Might re-do this one though.
